In order to improve the organization of the educational process, on September 1, 1999, the Chair of Physical Education was established at International Sakharov Ecnvironmental University (based on the decision of the University Council No. 16 dated on 23.07.1999 and the Rector’s order No. 106-o dated on 30.08.1999).
The chair was headed by Alexander Bagucharsky, Master of Sports in table tennis. Five teachers worked at the chair who laid down its traditions.
In the 2005-2006 academic year, the chair was headed by the track and field athlete Polushko Sergey Dmitrievich, and from 2006 to 2017, the chair was headed by Kulak Anton Antonovich (specialization-volleyball). During this period, the chair’s staff was replenished with highly qualified personnel.
Since 2017, the Chair of Physical Education is headed by PhD in Philology, Associate Professor, Candidate for Master of Sports in Greco-Roman wrestling Mikhail Krutalevich. Since that time, the members of the academic staff of the chair have been an Honored Worker of Education, Doctor in Pedagogy, Professor Kobrinsky Mikhail Yefimovich; Doctor in Pedagogy, Professor Shakhlay Alexander Mikhailovich; Doctor in Pedagogy, Professor Koleda Viktor Antonovich; PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor Onishchuk Olesya Nikolaevna; PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor Simanovich Pyotr Grigoryevich; PhD in Pedagogy, Associate Professor Zaika Viktor Mikhailovich; Honored Coach of the Republic of Belarus Mukhlyado Viktor Kazimirovich; Head coach of the women’s national mini-football team of the Republic of Belarus Sergey Tresko.
The Chair of Physical Education of International Sakharov Environmental Institute of BSU successfully implements the educational process, conducts mass sports, physical culture, and health-improving work.
The goal is to develop student social and personal competencies that ensure the use of appropriate means of physical culture and sports to preserve, strengthen health and prepare for professional activities.
Tasks to fulfil which ensures a goal to be achieved:
- comprehension and acceptance of the social role and values of physical culture in the professional and personal development of a future specialist;
- master the knowledge of scientific-biological, methodological and practical essentials of physical culture and healthy lifestyle;
- formation of a motivational and valuable attitude to physical culture, the need for regular physical exercises and sports;
- use of physical culture and sports facilities to prevent diseases, support mental well-being, develop and improve personal qualities and characteristics;
- get the experience of active physical culture and sports activities to master physical culture values.
