The faculty of environmental medicine is one of the leading educational and research centers to train specialists in medical biology and medical ecology who are capable of solving complex problems of maintaining human health in their relationship with environmental factors.

Medical and Biological Science: at the intersection of medicine and biology

Advanced higher education (master course)

7-06-0511-04 «Medical and Biological Sciences»

major in «applied immunology», «cytogenetics», «medical biochemistry»

Degree – «Master of Science».

Students study medical and biological disciplines with in-depth theoretical training in information technologies, molecular biology, molecular medicine and practical skills in working with advanced laboratory equipment.

During their studies students undergo a two-week research internship. Internship is based on scientific research institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, scientific practical centers and health care institutions of the Ministry of Health Care of the Republic of Belarus.

 
Graduates are able to do biochemical, immunological, cytogenetic, radiobiological research at cell, tissue and body levels to assess degree and level of pathological changes; analyze and assess harmful and aggressive environmental factor impact on various population groups, evaluate ionizing radiation for monitoring, forecasting and prevention of pathological processes; solve project tasks requiring special medical and biological training; prepare expert reports based on the results of experiments and analyses; carry out organizational and managerial functions; develop plans and programs of innovation activity organization, feasibility studies of innovation projects in Biology and Medicine.
 
Admission requirements:
  • Completed higher education (bachelor degree).
  • Interview in Biology.

Training description:

Training is from September 1 to June 30. There are two-week holidays between semesters. Students defend their master theses in the 2nd semester.

Students study modern issues of ecology and biotechnology,  methods of computer modeling in ecology, urban design technologies.

During their studies students undergo a two-week internship. Internship is based on scientific research institutions of the National Academy of Belarus, scientific practical centers and institutions of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, environmental organizations.

Graduate can use advanced biotechnological methods of bioremediation, modeling of biotechnological processes and systems, development of practical recommendations on the use of scientific research in environmental biotechnologies, planning and conducting experimental studies, patentability studies and  biotechnological development technical level indicators; assess the potential of urban environment, use methods and techniques to restore and improve  the state of urban environment; develop standards and measures to create optimal living conditions in an urban environment and comprehensive household waste management; assess economic efficiency of innovations and innovation projects in ecology and nature management, develop logistic strategies taking into account market demand, environmental conditions, external influence and internal state of  business entities.

During their studies students undergo a two-week scientific research internship. Internship is based on scientific research institutions of NAS of Belarus, IT-companies engaged in the analysis of medical and biological data.

It is possible to study suplementary disciplines “Philosophy and methodology of science ”, “Foreign language”, “Basics of information technologies” with subsequent passing of PhD candidacy examinations and a credit which are required to enter a PhD Course.
